Chris’s reputation as an amiable creative powerhouse has brought him an abundance of respect and recognition over his 16-year career in film & television.

Pulling from his rich background as a CG Supervisor, Chris Smallfield (affectionately dubbed “Spaceman” by colleagues) has evolved seamlessly towards nascent beginnings as a VFX Supervisor for huge international productions such as Shang-Chi and the Loki series. He offers a wealth of experience across the VFX & 3D spectrum and is a true denizen in the realm of all-things CG. Astonished by early Pixar films and carrying creativity in his blood (Chris’s mother is a passionate visual artist herself), Chris has had a clear direction for his professional life since a young age. His love of comic books and quirky films meant a natural segue into a BFA in Computer Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Chris claimed his first foot on the industrial ladder during 6 wide-eyed years in Los Angeles film & television before making the transition to Germany 11 years ago. He has since made a name for himself through his work as a multitalented 3D generalist.

“When clients ask for something they’ve never seen before, I manage to deliver. I try and find unusual sources of inspiration and then experiment with all kinds of media— from photography to sculpting something out of mud.”

No stranger to the biggest names in film, Chris’s extensive portfolio as a CG Supervisor encompasses monumental hits like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Captain Marvel. A Berliner at heart, Chris has confidently worked his way into the German film industry, previously serving as CG Supervisor to Die Känguru Chroniken and Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivführer. Chris’s penchant for artistic pursuits ranges from hobby photography and videography to graphic design and illustration. Dominik Zimmerle

VFX Supervisor

Strong visual acuity combined with an ability to find the best approach for every production mark Dominik out as a leading visual effects supervisor.

Dominik recently provided TRIXTER visual effects supervision for Marvel’s Black Widow, having previously overseen the studio’s extensive visual effects for Captain Marvel. He oversaw the creation of full CG environments ,major battle sequences, and the scene-stealing alien cat, Goose. “Exactly matching our CG cat with the live-action animal performer was quite the challenge,” says Dominik. “With CG and real cat shots cut back to back there was nowhere to hide. From realistically recreating the way his fur clumped to the way he moved and interacted with the actors, we had to create a seamless likeness and performance.”

Dominik grew up watching 2D animated movies, setting his sights at an early age on a career in animation. His talents in concept art subsequently led to an apprenticeship with TRIXTER in 2007. Recognizing his potential, Dominik was moved steadily through the ranks over the following decade, from concept art trainee to compositor, lead compositor, and compositing supervisor before settling in his current role.

Captain Marvel was Dominik’s third credit as TRIXTER VFX supervisor for Marvel Studios, having previously overseen work on Spider-Man Homecoming and Ant-Man. Other career highlights include VFX supervision for Independence Day: Resurgence and being part of the team which created the Ultron Mark 1 for Avengers: Age of Ultron and the Iron Man suit assembly for Iron Man 3.

A keen photographer and painter, Dominik has never lost his early love for drawing, which he continues to practice in his spare time. He also bakes an unbeatable sourdough loaf.

Ernest Dios is a multi-talented Visual Effects Supervisor with more than a decade of experience in digital compositing. During his career, he has worked on renowned projects such as Black Panther, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Marvels, Babylon Berlin, and many more.

Originally hailing from Galicia, Spain (but brought up in the artistic powerhouse of Barcelona), Ernest’s journey into the world of VFX has been guided by many artistic inspirations- from the work of classical painters, whose brilliance has endured to this day, to the groundbreaking visual effects of childhood favorites such as Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park and cinematography of talents like Greig Fraser and Roger Deakins,

Ernest’s educational journey began in Physics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, but his desire for a creative outlet eventually brought him to study media at EMAV in Barcelona, after which he started his CG career in architectural visualization.

After a foray into teaching at EMAV and a venture into film production, Ernest moved to London where he worked on an expansion of Automatik VFX, alongside partners Vertigo UK and Post-Republik in Germany. Over the years, he contributed significantly to the growth of Automatik VFX; particularly with the development of their studio in Berlin. Ernest moved to Munich in 2016, working as a Compositor with various studios before settling into his role at TRIXTER, where over the years he’s risen up the ranks to Comp Lead, Comp Supervisor, and finally Visual Effects Supervisor.

Outside the realm of VFX, Ernest’s passions include hiking, traveling, board gaming, photography, and movie watching. But, in his words, “My main hobbies stay inside the VFX category. I am lucky enough that my profession is my main hobby!” His personal projects involving Python scripting and exploring real-time technologies, particularly Unreal Engine, allowing him to enhance his skills as a VFX Supervisor.

Mikkel Arildsen

Asset & Creature Supervisor

As TRIXTER’s very own northern light, Mikkel oversees his department in the creation of anything hairy, furry and feathery. His main aspirations as supervisor include close inter-departmental cooperation throughout the whole character development process to deliver high-quality digital assets to clients like Marvel.

Along with discovering his love for movies at a young age, he also found the artist at heart we see today. The hairy, six-legged creature impresses viewers and industry peers alike with his iridescent feathers and quirky personality.

When his inner child comes out to play, Mikkel loves nothing more than to let his creativity loose and sculpt or draw on a day off, finding it impossible not to get excited over any subject thrown at him.
